Greyton Classic MTB & Trail Run – Newsletter #1

Dear Mountain Biker and Trail Runner,

Greyton Classic Background for Website_R2_A4 1024We are changing the face of the Pennypinchers events, and are moving into 2015 with one event: the Greyton Classic MTB & Trail Run! Due to the popularity and potential of the event, our title sponsor Pennypinchers, have requested us to throw all our energy into the Greyton Classic, which means that this year we are bringing you one event and not 3 as in previous years.  This one event will be better than it ever has been before, and makes the month of June something to look forward to so keep up the training!

Here are some highlights:

Total prize money of R15 000, shared between the 21km Trail Run, 65km MTB and MTB/ Trail Run Duo!  Please visit the website for details, this is a 1st time ever occurence in the Greyton Classic!

The Trail Run will take place from the very popular setting of Greyton Town itself, on Sunday 14 June, and will follow the 21km and 10km routes of 2 years ago that everyone raved about.

The MTB menu sees the addition of a 65km option for those who are looking for something more than a sprint, along a mix of routes through this valley that leaves everyone in awe and wanting more each year.  The able but not-so-fit will have a fantastic 30km challenge to look forward to, whilst there will be a picturesque 15km option for the beginners. The magnificent Oaks Estate will be our venue once again.

Multi-sport enthusiasts will look forward to the 30km MTB/ 10km Trail Run Duo, and will have time to recover from the MTB effort before they tackle the 10km Trail Run on the Sunday.

Walking enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the same scenic route as the 10km Trail Runners on the Sunday

Mountain bikers who don’t fancy the racing scene can come out on the Monday morning (it is a school holiday ahead of the public holiday on Tuesday) to enjoy a scenic guided 40km gravel/farm road trip on their MTB’s to take in the splendour that is Greyton and surrounds.  The tour will start and finish in Greyton Town.

We want the whole family to come out and have fun, and with that in mind we will have a pump track at The Oaks for kiddies this year, along with a jumping castle. For the family members who are not into the sports scene, Greyton has plenty to offer with an array of restaurants and coffee shops, art exhibitions and the like to suit the taste of every individual. A short stroll through the village, or a walk through the pristine nature reserve will leave you wanting to stay on for a few days more…

Hot showers for the riders, and a bike wash will be available.  The 1st 30 MTB entries get their bikes cleaned for free!

Food stalls, coffee, pancakes, hearty hamburgers, beers and other goodies will be at The Oaks, don’t  forget to bring some spare cash!

Enter for the Skills Clinic at The Oaks, presented by W2W/FNB coach Joanna Dobinson. Click here to find out more.

Prize giving for each event/distance will take place 30 minutes after the 3rd position has been finalised.

The Lucky Draw will take place at 12:00.

Keep up the training, see you there!
